Relax Your Way to a Pain Free Life

Simple breathing techniques can bring pronounced relief from pain.

By helping you direct your mind away from the pain, breathing has been shown to relieve tension, pain, and muscle and back aches.

Take time everyday to stop thinking–about your problems, your job, and your pain!

Instead follow these simple steps:

1. Sit comfortably in a straight chair, relax, and release all the tension in your body

2. Let go of your thoughts.

3. Sit up straight, as if pulled by an imaginary string at the top of your head, lengthening the distance between your navel and your chest.

4. Now breathe in consciously, through your nose (breathing through your nose helps to warm, humidify, and filter the air as it enters your lungs).

Use your diaphragm as you breathe.

As you take in air, allow your stomach to gently expand.

When you feel you’ve completed your in-breath, allow the exhalation to happen naturally.

Repeat this cycle several times.

You can consciously relax whenever you’d like throughout the day.
